In the table below you will find a list of all of the current and future projects we will be doing this school year. I post these as soon as I know we will do them. The dates at the end of the description are the start/stop dates for the activities.

Automated Weather System

We purchased the Automated Weather Service system in 2001 with a DOE Lighthouse Technology Grant. Several years later the equipment was damaged, and the curriculum moved into grade 5! AWS has fixed the equipment for free, and we are no part of a national weather system to help track the path of major storms such as hurricanes. Thank you AWS!!!!

Sun Angle Lab

Once a month we will record the location of the Sun at local noon. (Sept. 2008- March, 2009

Mapping Mars

The Mars Student Imaging Project will allow you to actually write a scientific proposal! If Arizona State University accepts your proposal, you will get a chance to use the Mars Odyssey spacecraft to take a photograph of Mars! (January, 2008 - June, 2008)

Pringles Challenge

Get ready for the Pringles Challenge! Can you send a single Pringles Potato Chip through the mail in the smallest, lightest package, and have it arrive intact? Watch this link for future developments! (January - February, 2008)

Sand Lab

For those of you who looked at this lab last year (2007/08), there has been a revision. I hopefully will get enough samples to open it to both coasts!

Rock of the Week

Do you have a unique rock that you would like to add to our collection? Bring it in and we'll take its picture! (Ongoing)

Geologic Time Periods

There's a lot more to the past than Jurassic Park!!

Beach Feature of the Week

What physical features can be found on a typical beach, and how did they get there?

Scientist for a Day

Three students submitted 500 word essays to attempt to use the Cassini spacecraft to photograph one of three satellites orbiting Saturn.
