I know, I know, it's over! With a record temperature of 84 degrees, I just had to shoot one more angle! They are out there in shorts and short sleeves. People are running on the track. Life is good!

On the "Open Sea!"

It's the annual 8th grade boat trip. Last year we actually did this on the first day of summer. This year we'll be on vacation, so this is as close as we can get to the solstice. It was a perfect day to be out on Boston Harbor! The temperature was perfect (see below). The seas were calm. It was a great end to the 2005/2006 school year!

It was a perfect day for a sun angle observation. Unfortunately it wasn't the right day. The forecast was for clouds tomorrow afternoon, (the last full day of summer) so we decided to do take the reading today.

It was the only clear day this week! It was also very windy! As we went outside to take the picture, a cloud covered the Sun. Then, just as we were going in, the Sun returned and we quickly took a reading. The results were very rushed, and we could only see the Sun through the clouds. We might retake the image next week.

It was the first clear day we have had in ages. The measurement was actually taken about 20 minutes after local solar noon, so the angle could be a tad low. Look at the huge difference in the trees in the background. All of the leaves are gone.

It was a crystal clear day, and for forecast for the solstice was clouds moving in by noon. There also was a huge test happening tomorrow, so today was the day to take the measurement. Despite the temperature, it was actually nice outside, but we didn't linger!

I was quite proud of myself! This image was taken at exactly local noon based on the NOAA website. This is our next to last day "mild" weather. We are in for a major arctic blast starting on Friday. Wind chills could be as low as -24!!!

It was a balmy 42 degrees at noon today. We are on our way to hopefully having an almost totally open winter. I hope I don't jinx it!

I jinxed it! We've had record cold, but no snow until last week! This is our largest snowfall of the now complete winter! It measured about five inches in Scituate. We just missed having a record low for the season. Just look at the sticks! We are really getting good at doing this!
