Sample 36 - Myrtle Beach, South Carolina

 

                                                                                                                                                                                          The two pictures  are of the layers of sand eroded off of a sand dune [at Myrtle Beach, SC]. You can see the dark and light layers of sand, plus whole seashells in between the layers of sand. I put my sandal in the picture for scale. - Karly C.

ESSAY

The sand sample number 36 is basically gray and tan in color. The angularity of the individual particles are subangular. The entire sample is poorly sorted. There are many shells, and a lot of beach glass mixed in. The most outstanding physical characteristic of the sand is the different shells and glass mixed in.
