There are many, many links we will be using concerning Mars and MSIP. Given below are some of them.

Why Go There?

Snow and Glaciers

This brief article gives a review of Brown University scientists work with identifying snow and possible glaciers on the sides of Martian volcanoes. Don't miss this one!

Mars Orbiter Camera Mosaic

Don't miss this one! It will allow you to zero in on anyplace on Mars. The map is unfortunately divided into sections that cuts through many of your areas, so you'll need to do it twice, but it's well worth a visit.

Planetary Data System

I don't really know how valuable this will be in your research, but it looks like a neat site! It's geared more for the professional scientist who needs data sets on a planet. Hey, we're scientists! Go there.

Latest NASA News on Mars

Go here to get the latest news on the various Mars missions.

MOLA

Mars Orbiter Laser Altimeter - This site takes you through the workings of MOLA. The altimiter created a topographic map of Mars by bouncing an infrared laser off the surface and measuring the time of travel. Knowing that, they can determine the spacecraft's distance to the surface and calculate the elevation of the spot!

GEOLOGY ON MARS

The woman from Harvard has been watching! She sent me this link from Cornell University. She thought it might help with quite a few of your topics.

MER

Currently Spirit and Opportunity are roving the sands of Mars telling us all kinds of things about the Martian surface.

"Mars Dead or Alive"

&

"Welcome to Mars"

Link to the January 4th, 2005 NOVA program.

Mars Global Surveyor

This spacecraft has been orbiting Mars for many years sending us great pictures of the Martian surface. One member of your group should be checking this on a regular basis for links to your feature.

Mars Odyssey

&

Mars Odyssey Image Gallery

This is the spacecraft we will use to take our photograph of the Martian surface! One member of your group should be checking this on a regular basis for links to your feature. For a complete list of all Odyssey images, go here.

Go to the Image Gallery for the best images for the various categories. Use this site to find images that match your category.

MSIP

Everything you will need to take the photograph using Mars Odyssey can be found here. Everything we do concerning the Mars adventure can be accessed here.

Mars Express

This is the European Space Agency's very successful spacecraft sending  magnificent pictures and great data back to Earth.! It contains great, but HUGE images of various Martian features.

Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter

We won't be able to use this craft this year. It hopefully is on its way to Mars, and won't begin sending back information until November of 2006. It supposedly will provide more information concerning water on Mars than all of the previous orbital missions combined!

Phoenix

On May 25, 2008 NASA continues to follow the water by looking for life near Mars' north pole in the first Scout Mission.

The Planetary Society

This is the largest privately funded astronomical organization geared toward the general public. In addition to Mars, they also have links to Saturn, Mercury, and their own project Cosmos 1.

How Valleys Form

Looking for some demos? Here's the place!

Glaciers on Mars

Go to this Mars Express article to see images and text about the latest findings.

Crater Counts

Here's an MSIP report from another school that attempted to find the absolute age of an area based on its crater counts. Several groups used this article last year with great success.

Volcanoes on Mars

Neat site. Especially for those who need to classify their volcanoes.

New Volcanic Features Discovered on Mars

Go to Dr. Christensen's article on how he used THEMIS to identify unique volcanic features on Mars! WARNING: This article is not an easy read! Slug through it if you can. I'd be more than glad to help you!
