  Cheat Sheet - This is a guide to the different types of rocks. How would you be able to identify a sample as being Igneous, Sedimentary, or Metamorphic based on its characteristics?

Take a look at the Geologic Time Page. On Thursday we'll make this a formal assignment. You are to create a powerpoint for one of the geologic time periods shown on the page. I'm toying with starting the presentations on the 20th of November, and finishing before Thanksgiving. This will be your only homework assignment other than studying for the Rock Cycle Quest. Come with questions on Thursday.

9/15/08 Be sure you have your bag for collecting samples today. BE SURE to bring in a box that will hold your sample to be sent to ASU tomorrow.  
9/16/08 Select which method you want to use to count the salt grains in you sample tomorrow.

9/10/08 Start hunting for a strong box and packing material to ship your rock to ASU next week. The rock should be no more than 5 inches in diameter, so plan accordingly.  
9/11/08 Design a lab to see if there are 200,000,000,000 objects in a given area. (I don't want to tell you what the "area" is here; all was explained yesterday. Trust me, it makes sense.
